Many people, myself included, consider coffee a necessity for everyday life. You want to be able to make a perfect, delicious cup of coffee whenever you want it, right in the comfort of your own home. Keurig understands our coffee obsession. That’s why they make it so easy to have that perfect cup of joe with just a push of a button.
Who Needs the Keurig K200?
Let us introduce a dream come true – the Keurig K200, which is a wonderful, easily affordable starter machine for people who are just beginning their journey with the joys of single-serving coffee makers.
But what about when you want to make more than just one cup of coffee? Well, that’s where the Keurig K200 shines differently than its predecessors. The K200 can let you brew a whole pot of coffee to share with others or to savor yourself. Other Keurigs can’t do that!
True to the brand, this model also uses revolutionary Keurig Brewing technology to read the lid of your chosen k-cup, k-mug, or k-carafe pod to ensure you get the perfect beverage, every time. It can even make specialty drinks like hot cocoa, mochas, or chai. Prefer iced coffee instead? Check out how!
Just look for your favorite flavor in the k-cup 2.0 product line. Brew up your favorite flavor in a mug or even a carafe to share with everyone. The Keurig K200 can do it all.
Why the Keurig K200?
Keurig is an excellent addition to your kitchen to fulfill all your coffee needs. Slim enough to fit on most countertops without taking up too much room, the classic black and silver design will fit with most decor. Prefer a different color? The K200 is available in various colors to match any personality type.
The touch screen is simple to use and lets you have full control of your cup of joe, from the size to the strength. Never worry about messes or overspills, thanks to the removable drip tray. When taken out, you can fit up to a seven-inch cup in this coffee maker.
You will need to remember to turn this product off after each use, as there is no auto-shutoff feature. Bummer, we know. But it’s a quick coffee maker, filling your cup in less than a minute, depending on size and brew type.
There’s also a 40-ounce water reservoir, which means you can enjoy multiple cups without having to refill. It’s removable for easy fill-ups. And houses the included air filter so you can be sure your water gets purified before drinking.

Features of the Keurig K200
The Keurig K200 is an upgraded model of single-serve coffee. You can expect the same excellent quality and easy usability with this machine that you would get with any of the other models under the Keurig label. However, there are some neat features the K200 has that you can’t find in the other coffee makers. Keep reading to find out what!
Carafe feature
Keurig is known for being the pioneer of single-cup servings of yummy coffee. Never again have to worry about throwing away a whole pot of coffee when all you want is one cup. Just pop in a k-cup and hit a button. However, many people dislike that you can’t make more than one cup at a time.
But with the Keurig K200, they’ve solved the problem of making coffee for everyone, as well as just a single serving. By purchasing the separate carafe, you can use your single-serve machine to make up to nine cups of coffee at once.
To use the carafe feature, you’ll need the carafe as well as the k-carafe pods, which brew 22, 26, or 30 ounces.
K-Pods
To brew the perfect cup of coffee every time, all you need is to put in your k-pod and choose the appropriate size and strength and wait. Once finished, simply toss the k-pod away. They are not reusable.
There are 75 brands and over 400 varieties of flavors reso you’re sure to find a taste that works for you. We know it can be overwhelming trying to narrow down your choices, so start by checking out our recommendations for the twenty best flavors here.
Be aware that only Keurig pods work with this machine. You cannot use other brands. You can choose from multiple pod sizes: 4, 6, 8, or 10 ounces k-cups, 12, 14, or 16-ounce k-mug pods, or 22, 26, or 30-ounce k-carafe pods.
Be Environmental Friendly
Throughout their production, Keurigs have taken a lot of heat for the environmental footprint their product leaves behind – the disposable K-cups that contain your coffee grinds. It is difficult to recycle these as you have to completely disassemble them and divide the different materials, including plastic and aluminum.
There is the option to purchase the Keurig Plus Series My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter if you prefer to use your town grounds instead of the Keurig flavors. It also works for things like cocoa, tea, or espressos. And since it’s reusable, you don’t throw it away.
And there are companies out there that make recyclable k-cups and reusable cups. We’ve even included a few on our top 20 list, so be sure you’ve checked it out.
Strong Brew Mode
With previous Keurig coffee makers, if you wanted a more robust cup of coffee, you’d end up getting less coffee in your mug. It can be frustrating to have to give up quantity for quality. But with the Keurig K200, that’s not a problem.
The Keurig K200 has nine modes to choose from, including four regular brews in sizes four, six, eight, or ten ounces; four strong brews in the same ounces; or carafe, which fills a whole pot.
If you want regular strength, just push the touch-button screen to pick the appropriate k-cup size. But when you need that extra strength, switch the button to strong. And don’t forget, you can make specialty brews and teas as well, just from a switch of the button.
Keurig Brewing Technology
You may be wondering how your coffee machine can ensure you get perfect tasting coffee every time. The answer is in the k-cup lid. Your Keurig reads the label of each k-cup before brewing so it can know the appropriate amount of water to put out to make your coffee correctly.
Then, once the water gets heated up, a hollow needle punctures the foil top, and the water fills the k-cup. Another needle pokes a hole in the bottom of the k-cup so that your brewed coffee can flow through the k-cup, and built-in filter, right into your waiting cup.
In less than two minutes, you have a piping hot yummy cup of java that tastes like you just purchased it straight from your favorite coffee house. And remember, with so many varieties, you could try a different flavor every day!
Easy to Use Touch Display
You don’t have to be a technology wizard to be able to work the Keurig K200. The simple to read display lets you easily see what settings you’ve chosen. Press the arrow up or down to select the size and the strength of your brew. Or move down to select specialty drinks like hot cocoa or tea.
The information is displayed in an easy to view size so you don’t have to worry if you can’t see smaller words or numbers. But we are a bit disappointed that there’s not a clock on the screen. Nor is there a timer or an automatic power-off.
Some coffee makers come with a freshness meter, letting you know how long the coffee has been made. Unfortunately, the Keurig K200 doesn’t have this option. The screen is simplistic and easy to understand, without any training. Check out this video to see what we mean!
Large Water Reservoir
With an ample 40-ounce water reservoir, you can brew up to four cups of coffee out of one refill. When it’s time to refill, just detach the tank by lifting and place it under your kitchen faucet or refill from a bottle.
The filter is located inside this tank. Keurig recommends that you change the water filter every two months for heavy use or after sixty tank refills if you’re an infrequent user. The filter is made of charcoal and takes less than ten minutes to change.
It will require that the water tank is empty. Place your new filter into a cup of water for at least five minutes before putting into your Keurig. Remove the old filter and replace it with the new one after giving it a quick rinse after you’re through soaking it.
There’s even a dial that you can rotate to set which month the filter will need to be changed again. Newer models will provide the date you replaced the old filter, as well as when you’re due for a new change. Here’s a helpful video to walk you through the process.
Alternatives to the Keurig K200
We love the Keurig K200 with all its excellent capabilities, including the option to make multiple cups of coffee at once. But we were a bit disappointed that we can’t set this coffee machine to auto brew – start making your coffee at a specific time, so you’re ready to go.
If you need a coffee maker that can be programmed to turn on and power off, Keurig also has the Keurig K575, which has an 80-ounce water reservoir and can make coffee cups up to 12 ounces instead of just 10, like the K200. You even have control of your temperature with the K575. But it is a lot more expensive and bulkier so it’ll take up more room.
Need a coffee maker that is compact enough to fit into tight spots? The Keurig K-Mini single-serve K-cup pod coffee maker could be your solution. It’s less than five inches wide and can brew cups from six to 12 ounces. It does only have a one cup water tank, so you’ll have to refill the water before each brew. But it does have a 90-second auto power-off. And it cannot brew a whole pot like the K200.
